About Me

My name is Maciej Stopa. Sometimes I call myself “born in open source” because my journey towards IT began with network administration of and security based on *BSD systems at the age of a dozen or so. In later years, I turned my interests to Linux and UNIX systems. I started my career in IT over 16 years ago, building HPC solutions for the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology. I spent the next 10 years integrating systems at ATM S.A. / Atman / ATM SI / Atende. The company itself has transformed a lot over the years, but has always been one of the largest ICT integrators in Poland. My transformation began with the role of a System Engineer towards a Solutions Architect. As a virtualization evangelist and cloud transformation leader, I designed and implemented, together with HP an offering called Atende Business Cloud for business customers. So I could think of myself in terms of a Cloud Architect 🙂

The next stage in my career was Microsoft, where I spent 3.5 years as a Cloud Solution Architect in the Enterprise Commercial department, working with the largest customers in Poland and CEE, supporting digital transformation, cloud implementation and becoming a trusted digital advisor.

For the last 1.5 years I have worked as a “Remote Freelance CTO” in companies focusing on Genomics and BioTech, where I helped in digital transformation, launching new projects in Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.

I am a multi-certified cloud polyglot with experience in AWS, GCP, Azure, VMware and OpenStack. My career has always been full of technical knowledge and certifications, ranging from Oracle Solaris, IBM, VMware to RedHat Linux, Linux Certified Administrator and more.

In addition to using bleeding-edge technology, I live “on a farm” in a small village north of Pułtusk, where expanses of yellow blooming rape reach the horizon. In my free time I look after my family and family garden. I go fishing and spend a lot of time with family outdoors. Sometimes I play various MMORPGs 🙂

One quote has been following my path from the very beginning

To follow the path,
look to the master,
follow the master,
walk with the master,
see through the master,
become the master.

I hope my posts will bring you closer to my Zen 🙂 Let’s continue our Journey with Inner Generalist.
