What is the exam about (skills measured):

Candidates for this exam should have experience in Microsoft Azure technologies including virtualization, networking, identity, data storage, backup, security, and disaster recovery. They should understand the on-premises virtual remote desktop infrastructure technologies related to migration to Windows Virtual Desktop. You will need to demonstrate familiarity with the Azure Portal and Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates for multiple types of deployments. There may be tasks using PowerShell and Azure CLI to automate tasks more efficiently.

Importantly, your exam may contain Preview items that are not yet available in GA.

The exam may contain questions on Preview features if those features are commonly used

Exam AZ-140 beta defines the following areas of specialization:

  • Plan a Windows Virtual Desktop architecture (10-15%)
  • Implement a Windows Virtual Desktop infrastructure (25-30%)
  • Manage access and security (10-15%)
  • Manage user environments and apps (20-25%)
  • Monitor and maintain a Windows Virtual Desktop infrastructure (20-25%)
